What’s in store for 2024...
YMCA of Northwest Florida
Race proceeds from 2024 will support the new teen hangout at the Northeast YMCA. We believe that teens are often left out of youth programming and thrive best in a safe space that they help create. As we launch a school-year teen program focused on 11- to 15-year-olds, we’ve carved out a room for teens and by teens. The Last Mile proceeds will outfit that space with comfortable furniture, cool lighting, gaming systems, interactive games, and more – so that we have a space where our teens want to hang out.
We are grateful to The Last Mile for the past investments in sports field lighting, CPR training programs, STEM education in afterschool, shade structures to promote sun safety, our future ropes course, and heavy-duty outdoor picnic tables for use by teens and summer camp. Each of these represents an investment in safety and youth in alignment with TLM priorities.

Race proceeds will go to fund two major projects. First is a volunteer project on the Gonzalez Street Shareway. We plan to get neighbors along the Shareway involved in a beautification project to add colorful plants to a couple of key intersections, as an example of the beautification we’d like to see to make the Shareway a success. plants and mulch.
After funding our first ever Kid's Slow Ride and Bicycle Rodeo, we have a need to replicate our efforts with safety focused Bicycle Rodeo needs include insurance, police, supplies and snacks for the event. These two projects continue our partnership with The Last Mile to provide continued education and advocacy to safer streets initiatives for our community at large.

Bike Pensacola
Known for their popular bike ride in town—the Slow Ride, Bike Pensacola is a coalition of bicyclists, bike clubs, bike shops, and other organizations working to improve conditions for bicycling in Pensacola. More than 400 riders bike the city streets for its monthly Slow Ride, building support for a more bicycle and pedestrian-friendly community.
Co-founder Christian Wagley is a strong advocate for restoring Pensacola’s urban core and making the City more pedestrian and bicycle-friendly. Because most cyclists are “self taught,” each month they offer information about bicycle laws and safety tips that will help keep rides safe and enjoyable.

- Purchased picnic tables & equipment to outfit YMCA’s Northeast's teen leadership program to be used for after school, summer and community use allowing for our local youth to have a positive safe space.
- Purchased and installed a permanent shade structure over the outdoor family pool at the Betty J. Pullum Family YMCA in Navarre, expanding our ability to offer swim lessons and camp and recreational swimming.
